What Is a Strata Property in BC?
A strata property in British Columbia is a property where you own a strata lot and share ownership of common property and common assets with other strata lot owners. The owners form a strata corporation which controls and manages the shared property. Strata properties include condos, townhouses and some detached homes.
Your strata lot is your individually owned home. Common property is the part of the building or land that is not part of an individual strata lot. It can include roofs, hallways, elevators, parking areas, landscaping and shared building systems.
